Five people were killed and a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody after a shooting at a home near Seattle, Washington, on Monday morning, officials said.
A “shooting disturbance” at a home in Falls City, east of Seattle, left two adults and three teenagers dead, King County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Mike Mellis said at a news conference this week. .
A judge ruled Tuesday that the 15-year-old suspect, who cannot be named by the media, cannot have contact with the surviving teenage victim of the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim in the shooting.
But multiple U.S. media reported that parents Mark and Sarah Humiston and their three children were killed.
The injured victim, an 11-year-old girl, was in “satisfactory” condition Tuesday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a hospital spokesman told The Associated Press.
Melis said police from across the area responded to a 911 call about the shooting and found a “chaotic scene” at the home, where a neighbor was providing medical aid to a teenage victim.
Mellis added that police detained a “young man” shortly afterwards.
“There were no major conflicts with the young people who were detained,” Mr Melis said. “What happened, has happened. It’s done.
His lawyer told the court on Tuesday that the 15-year-old had no criminal record. Officials have until Thursday to charge the teenager.
