Liam Payne’s former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan says he is “devastated” by the “passing of his amazing friend”.
Payne died on Wednesday night in Buenos Aires and flew to Argentina to watch Horan on tour.
“I am so saddened by the passing of my good friend Liam. It feels unreal,” Horan wrote.
“Liam had a great energy for life and a contagious enthusiasm for his work. He was the smartest guy in every room and always made everyone feel happy and safe,” Horan added.
The statement posted on Instagram continued: “All the laughs we have had over the years, sometimes about the simplest things, keep coming to mind during times of sadness. We got to live our wildest dreams together and I will cherish having us together. every moment.
“I feel so lucky to have been able to meet him recently. Sadly, I didn’t know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that night, I would say goodbye forever. It’s heartbreaking.”
