A Welsh Conservative politician under investigation for betting on the timing of the general election has returned to the party frontbench.
Russell George told the BBC he was “uncertain” about the current position of the Gambling Commission’s investigation and had not heard from them for “months”.
He is one of several Conservatives under investigation over general election betting ahead of the July election.
The Montgomery County Senator (MS) said he was “glad that I didn’t do anything incorrect and I’m really happy to continue serving in the Senate”.
The Gambling Commission said it could not comment further “to protect the integrity of the investigation”.
Conservatives involved in the investigation include George’s colleague Craig Williams, a former Montgomery County councilman who lost his seat in the election.
News broke in June that MS said he was quitting his role as spokesman for Mid Wales.
On Wednesday, he revealed in a press release sent to the media that he had returned to work on an entirely different issue.
He also resumed his duties as chairman of the Senate Health Committee – a position he also temporarily stepped down for several weeks over the summer.
As he did not resign completely, he continued to receive an additional committee chairman salary of £14,636.

talking James Williams interviewed by Welsh radio station Breakfast, he said he returned to the Conservative shadow cabinet “a few weeks ago”.
He said he did not know whether the Gambling Commission investigation was still ongoing.
“I was delighted to engage with the Gambling Commission a few months ago.
“I voluntarily told them my situation. I am happy to cooperate with them. I have heard nothing since then and I am not sure what the current position is”.
A spokesman for the Gambling Commission said: “In order to protect the integrity of the investigation and ensure a fair and impartial outcome, we are unable to comment further at this time, including the names of any persons who may be under suspicion, or the total dollar amount.” The number of suspects.
