A new documentary from BBC Storyville gives us a glimpse into the Hamas attack on partygoers at Israel’s Nova music festival on 7 October 2023, which left hundreds dead.
Drawing on survivor testimony, cellphone footage and Hamas footage, the film shows how the dance festival descended into chaos, then fear and chaos, when Hamas arrived and began killing partygoers.
On October 7, Hamas gunmen crossed the border from Gaza, attacked dozens of locations and killed indiscriminately, killing about 1,200 people and taking more than 200 others hostage.
Since then, Israeli military operations in Gaza have killed more than 41,000 Palestinians, Hamas’ health ministry said.
Storyville: We Will Dance Again will air on BBC Two and iPlayer in the UK on Thursday 26 September at 09:00. The film is part of the BBC Two, BBC Four and iPlayer package to mark the first anniversary of the war between Israel and Hamas on 7 October. Another BBC Storyville production, Life and Death in Gaza, will be broadcast in October.
