Shohei Ohtani made baseball history by becoming the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season.
The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar set a Division I record by stealing three bases in the first inning against the Miami Marlins.
He then completed his 51st steal and hit his 49th home run of the season in the sixth inning, tying the Dodgers’ record for most home runs in a season set by Shawn Green in 2001.
Ohtani then hit 50 home runs in the next inning, becoming the first player to achieve the 50-50 feat.
The 30-year-old Japanese player joined the Dodgers in December on a 10-year $700m (£527m) deal, the biggest deal in the history of the sport, making him one of the world’s highest-paid players One of the tallest athletes.
